1 John 4:7-8
“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves has been born of God, and knows God. He who doesn’t love doesn’t know God, for God is love.”
Society has done a phenomenal job with romanticizing the word “love” and limiting it mainly to romantic partners or close friends and families. However, love is beyond romantic and platonic relationships. Love can exist without a relationship—love exists beyond relationships. Love is for everyone and anyone you come in contact with. Love is for your next-door neighbour. Love is for that bus driver that drove you to work today. Love is for that cashier that helped pack your groceries. Love is for the customer representative at the gas station. Love is for those whose religion, political party, or lifestyle choices differ from yours. Love is for your social media followers. Love is for the homeless.
You don’t have to know their name to love them. You don’t even have to know where they live to show love. Love is kindness to not only those you adore and know, but also to strangers walking down the streets. Love is for everyone.
Love even when it doesn’t make sense. Love even when it doesn’t feel right or needed because that’s often when it’s needed the most. One can never fully know what a person is battling. Even the closest of friends, twins, and partners all have undisclosed inner battles they are fighting. So, when love is present and spread indiscriminately, it gives hope and strength to keep fighting.
Spread love from one soul to another to next to other to another and on and on and on. Love is not reserved for a special individual only, but for the multitude. Spread love like wildfire transcending all age, race, gender, sex, ethnicity, and background. Let love guide your actions and lead your words.
Love is for everyone. Love out loud. Spread it.
