“So let us seize and hold fast and retain without wavering the hope we cherish and confess and our acknowledgement of it, for He Who promised is reliable (sure) and faithful to His word.”
Hebrews 10:23 AMPC
Day 1: “Heavenly Father, giver of all things. I humbly ask for a fresh green Apple.”
Day 14: “Dear Lord, you know what, I’ll settle for a green apple. However which way, I can always wash or peel the apple anyway.”
Day 21: “God, it’s me again. At this point, I don’t even mind the colour, I’ll take any apple. Apple is apple. Just send me any, please.”
This, my friend, is wavering coupled with doubts.
When we make a request to God, He would like that we stand firm in our request with unwavering faith. Doubt is when we go from wanting a fresh green apple to settling for just any apple. We desperately go from a specific prayer request to settling for whatever we can get forgetting who we are talking to.
God only wants the utmost best for His children. When we pray, He not only wants us to hold fast to our confessions, but also needs us to exercise patience while He prepares a response. There ought to be a level of confidence that overwhelms you simply by knowing that you had just spoken to the commander-in-chief of the universe: God. He listens. He hears you. He will not, and cannot forsake you. When we pray and confess all that our heart desires, irrespective of the time it may take, Hebrews 10 verse 23 reminds us to hold unswervingly to our profession without wavering because He who promised is faithful and reliable.
Be it one month or one year, however long it takes, one thing is certain: He will deliver the best to you. He will send the finest, sweetest, & freshest green apples you will ever taste, and will ensure that you never run out of fresh green apples. He goes beyond and above your petition because He is more than able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that you ask, think, or imagine according to His power at work in you (Ephesians 3:20).
Demoting your supplications isn’t going to expedite the delivery process. God is constantly looking out for you and saving the finest possessions for you. He is like that caring and thoughtful big brother always watching out for their younger ones. Thankfully, God with His unlimited knowledge and limitless power, is the Big Brother of all big brothers that is constantly working to ensure all petitions have been met.
When next you ask Big Brother for a fresh green apple, I pray you find the confidence to stand firm in your initial request, and maintain your confessions while you await Big Brother to provide. Surely, He will!
