Jeremiah 17:
7 βBlessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,
And whose hope is the Lord.
8 For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters,
Which spreads out its roots by the river,
And will not fear when heat comes;
But its leaf will be green,
And will not be anxious in the year of drought,
Nor will cease from yielding fruit.

Oh what a blessing it is to trust and hope in the Lord!
When you lay your trust and completely rely your hope in Him, you’re assured an abundant blessing not dependent on seasons. When God extends His outstretched arms over your life, He pays very little attention to your surroundings—His blessings are not seasonal.
If you know a bit about agriculture, you know that heat and trees doesn’t make for a perfect combination especially those not adapted for such harsh conditions. Excessive and intense heat leads to dry root which is an environmental stress that can soon result to dead leaves with stunted growth. This verse from Jeremiah 17 is a reminder that even in midst of an intense heat, God will never allow you to burn.
At this side of town, it’s still summer—a very scorching hot summer! Of late, I’ve been assigned the duty to water some plants. Early mornings, I step out to water the plants around 7:45am. Like a caring mother, I step out again around 3:30pm, just to check on them. By this time, the soil looks as though they have been starved of water. So, here we have a plant all moist and filled up in the morning and by mid-afternoon it’s all dried up within a span of eight hours. Thankfully, God’s blessings isn’t as fickle as the ground housing these plants. His blessings can withstand even the hottest and driest of time.
In fact, God himself have promised that when heat (hardship, challenges, temptations, & road-blocks) comes, your leaf (life) will still be green. The circumstances of your environment will no longer determine your elevation and ability to grow and bear fruits. God takes it serious when He sees that you have totally surrendered all trust and hope in Him—He’s like a father who doesn’t want to disappoint His children’s faith in Him. He takes your commitment personal and treats it with the highest of regard. When God knows you’re counting on Him, He goes beyond and above to ensure He exceeds your expectations.
When you have opened the door and invite Him to take over, your circumstances will no longer interfere with where God wants to take you. No longer can your circumstances influence your present and your future because God is now fully involved. Your invitation and confidence in knowing that He is in control ensures that no drought nor heat, no pandemic nor natural disasters will cease you from reaping your ordained blessings.
Because God is God and not man, no amount of environmental stress can impede His blessings concerning your life.
