James 1:2-4~

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”

You overwhelm yourself by comparing yourself with people that have been there for a very long while. Everyone’s season are different: start small. Once upon a time, those who you compare yourself with were once a beginner. It makes very little sense to compare a professional to a beginner. Appreciate your early stage and soak in all the knowledge you can while at it.

You must never assume that some people are super achievers because life is easier for them. Never assume that it’s because things are easier for others is why they’re succeeding. You’ll be amazed when they tell you their stories and what they went through to get to where they are today. Your journey is unique to you—the challenges, struggles, and disappointments are all unique to you. Don’t compare.

Attitude is very critical.

Humans are like teabags: when dipped into a cold water you get nothing, but put it into a hot water and that is when you get the flavour. Adversity builds character, and squeezes out just the right amount of ‘juice.’

Be tenacious enough to go after what your heart desires. Don’t let adversity bury your dreams. Life is a matter of perspective—how you view your adversities is how it treats you. Keeping a positive mindset allows for a smooth transition from dark to light. Choose to be positive. Choose to embrace the journey.

I have no intentions to bore you with my challenges until the story has changed to breakthrough. But keep in mind—-we are all fighting one battle or another. Be kind, be generous, don’t compare, stay focused, and run your race.

  1. Thank you for this word today that challenged me greatly! Comparing ourselves is often a path to despair, but we are all in different places on our journeys. And it’s true some endeavors take many failures to reach our goals (Thomas Edison, the inventor of light bulbs, said he tried 1,000 times before he got the light right.) With God’s grace, our part is not giving up – to keep trying. Much love, 💡💜💡

    1. Really…when I remember the count ONE THOUSAND times…I remind myself that unless I have at least tried for 1000 times, I have no reason to even entertain the thought of giving up: it takes discipline…lots and lots of it to keep going (especially at the face of multiple failures). But, God’s grace runs deep…so we must persevere. Thank you for sharing that insight!

  2. This is so true. We never know the struggles that others have experienced / are experiencing in their lives. Give others grace as God shapes them into His image.

  6. What a brilliant post! You’re absolutely right – we are very much like teabags! (Love that analogy!) The “heat” of adversity is absolutely no fun while we’re in it – but just like gold goes through the purifying process – so do we!

I also love how you’ve reminded us that every person is going through something. And yet, we are at different points in our journey. When looking at it from the perspective you mention – we realize just how crazy it seems to think we’d be a pro overnight, at anything! Life is a journey. Sometimes it’s a long, winding road. Yet breakthrough is around the corner.

Thank you so much for sharing this! You are a bright light in a crazy world. I’ve shared your post. Praying you & yours are happy, safe and blessed! ♥

    1. Success, really, doesn’t happen overnight. Hence why it’s imperative to keep at it, embrace the journey, and in due time the breakthrough will come.

  7. Thanks for sharing this sis. Comparing our process or phase with another has never helped in any way. Rather, bearing in mind the target (the focus ahead) and running with it, helps.

I pray the breakthrough you desire in the current situation come through for you. ❤

    1. Amen! Thank you for reading and sharing that. Keeping our eyes on the target, like you mentioned, is what’s more important that comparison.
I pray likewise for you. 💝
