Wait on Him.

Currently, we live in a world were almost everything is obtained fast and easy. With devices such as smart phones, you can almost find and purchase anything online. Thanks to Amazon prime membership you can get your package at your doorstep within two days—if not less.

The result of this is that we often go to God in prayer with the same attitude.  We come before Him in prayer with the mindset of “quick and immediate” delivery forgetting that God is not a McDonald drive through that gets your order hot, fresh, and ready to go before you pull up to the second window. He is also not a magician that puts on a show to impress.

With God, it takes time. This could mean hours, days, weeks, months, or years, but it takes time. Psalm 27:14 tells us to “wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord!”

Waiting on Him means accepting in totality His timing while letting go of your timing.

Waiting on Him means believing that as long as you have played your part, He will handle the rest on His own time.

Waiting on Him means understanding that without His timing, nothing you do within your willpower will bring to fruition the level of success He has planned for your life.

The reassuring and amazing part about waiting on God is that; He will always show up. His timing may not be today, tomorrow, next tomorrow or the day after next tomorrow, but He will surely show up because His words never return to Him void (Isaiah 55:11).

Also, when it comes to the concept of  time, “do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day” 2 Peter 3:8. When it comes to time, His timing differs from your timing. What you pray and desire to receive today could work best in your favour if received tomorrow. When waiting on Him, it helps to not lean on your own understanding (proverbs 3:6) and fully accept that He wants the best for you (Jeremiah 29:11).

In the meanwhile, thank Him for what He has done, what He is doing, and what He is going to do. Praise Him with a joyful heart, and when the timing is right, God will deliver your package to you– prime membership or not.

He is never too late. He is never too early. He is always on time!

  4. Great post. We prayed for a friend for 25 years and just last year she finally came to Christ. It was such a joy and a reminder to respect God’s timing.

  5. Agree!

Sir, my concern is not whether God is on my side; my greatest concern is to be on God’s side, for God is always right!

  6. 🙂 The answer to a five-year-old prayer just came today. It’s even more sweet than it would have been when the prayer was squeaky new.
