“Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life.”
— Proverbs 4:23
To a surgeon, the heart is a very delicate organ. One wrong move and the patient dies.
To believers, the heart is the housekeeper of life, all things hopeful, and all things wellness.
To life, the heart is just another play ground to which it takes pleasure in distorting with a million and one circumstances that no amount of preparation could have protected you from.
Life happens– rejection, disappointment, heartbreak, miscarriage, layoff, death, failure, injury, illness, stagnation, addiction, and etc. Truly, verily, and more so often, life happens, but what happens after life happens is what determines your turning point.
You’re stronger than you give yourself credit for. You’re able than you can ever imagine. You have what it takes to experience life mishaps and still come out victorious. But, victory starts with your heart—your mind.
Of recent, I reflected on past events in my life and still wonder “how in the world did I pull through?’” “How?!” Then it dawned on me–my mindset! my attitude! my thoughts! These are the single most significant (among other things such as praying) aspects of overcoming a trying time. Whatever it is you’re passing through, it is all but for a moment. You will get through it because you can get through it. You need not be afraid, but only to remain still because God has given you the spirit of peace that passeth all understanding. He has commanded that you be anxious for nothing!
It won’t be easy, but it is possible.
I encourage you to protect your heart. Consciously guide your heart from rotten and evil stink that roams around. Speak positivity to yourself, think thoughts of good, fill yourself up with positive words of affirmation, declare that you’re able and victorious, and so shall it be because as a man thinketh so is he.
To you, you’ve got only one heart so protect yours.
