Count it all Joy!

Life is all about perspective– how you perceive things, how you react to situations, and your attitude towards and during any situation you find yourself in. How you handle each challenges that comes you way depends on your mindset going in. Often times, situations aren’t as bad as they seem, but because you go in with a negative mindset it ends up being worse than it could have. Attitude impacts outcome.

A popular misconception is that Christians don’t go through tough times. The truth is being a Christian doesn’t exempt you from life challenges. In fact, it is when you become a Christian that it becomes even more glaring. Because you believe in a greater power, the devil will tempt you and do all he can to lure you to his side.

We receive trials:

1. To test your motives and values especially after you receive a revelation or promise. In Deuteronomy 8:1-3, we see God allowing the children of Israel to thirst and hunger so that He might test them to know what was in their heart whether they will obey His commandments or not. In addition to that, Satan’s goal is to ensure that that promise and revelation doesn’t come to fruition.  The moment God gives you a revelation or promise you become a target for Satan because he knows the future is in revelation. If Satan comes at you hard it means you’re carrying something heavy.
2. To birth in you perseverance because the testing of your faith produces perseverance which you need to see Gods promises fulfilled. Some promises God will give you will takes years to find fulfillment; ask Abraham.
3. Trials come your way to develop in you a greater level of capacity— the capacity to endure because you need that to see God’s promises fulfilled. Trials develop in you the ability to understand and experience His promises.
4. To make you humble. As humans we often can easily become too proud of our achievements and abilities and wanting to receive all the glory.
5. To make you dependent on God and not take credit for the victory that is to come.

Trials comes simply because you are a Christian. The fact that you are a Christian is the reason why you experience some trials. You may be tempted to ask ‘why me?’ But, why not you? Why should it be someone else and not you?

1st Peter 4:12:16 reminds you to not be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you. However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name. For the Lord is your refuge and your fortress; your place of safety. So fix your eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal ~2 Corinthians 4:18.

Count it all joy and rejoice for it is a sign. If you had no value Satan won’t have paid attention to you. Satan is strategic. He doesn’t waste his time on people who have no value. When he comes after you hard it means you’re carrying something big!
