But, What If…?

Self-doubt.

Self-doubt—we are all guilty of it every now then because, truly, we are human and can’t help but to question our abilities.

Even when we are fully capable and fit to take on whatever task it may be, we still let self doubt linger around. Asking ourselves questions like—-

But, what if… I don’t get the Job?

But, what if… I don’t get a call back?

But, what if… I don’t get accepted?

But, what if…I don’t get pick me?

But, what if…I don’t make it?

But, what if…I fail?

Stop. Interrupt your negative ‘what ifs’ with positivity.

But, what if…I do get picked?

But, what if…I do get the job?

But, what if… I do get accepted?

But, what if…I succeed?

Don’t let self doubt swallow and shrink your abilities. If you don’t believe and trust in yourself who will? Be confident enough to know that you have in you the ability to achieve whatever you set your mind to. And that even if you do encounter failure and mistake in the process, when next you try, you now know what not to do.

Self-doubt can lead to stagnation because you doubt yourself so much you shrink back in fear. But be reminded, that God has not given you the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Ask Him to help you overcome the spirit of self-doubt– replace doubts with confidence. He is a God of abundance willing to intervene and pour richly in us whatever we ask of Him.

Now, some may say, “well, I doubt my myself because I actually don’t have the abilities” —and that’s totally okay! But do something about it- sharpen your skills, find ways to improve yourself in that area, be willing to learn from those who have the abilities you seek, ask the right questions to the right people, and be proactive in your field.

Don’t let self-doubt eat you up any more than it has. Take a step out of your doubts today with faith in yourself believing that you can achieve, overcome, and conquer.

I, too, believe that you can do it!

  2. This is great! At my first job I used to hound my boss with the “what if’s” to the point she told me “You will be fine. Just go and do.” I was so worried about messing up – with everything. What a good reminder!
