I Will Rejoice!

Habakkuk 3:17-19:

17 Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, 18 yet I will rejoice in the LordI will take joy in the God of my salvation. 19 God, the Lord, is my strength; he makes my feet like the deer’s; he makes me tread on my high places.

From experience, it is incredibly challenging to maintain a mindset and attitude of praise and joy in the midst of trials and tribulations. This is so because naturally, it feels normal to wallow in self-pity and feel sadness and emptiness. But ask yourself; when has sadness and sorrow ever solved any of my problems? It may be soothing for a while to cry and wallow in sadness, but when prolonged it creates stagnation and stunts any chances of moving and growing out of your situation.

In Habakkuk, we have a farmer whose trees aren’t blossoming, not producing fruits, or making any food. The sheep and cattle are also no more. Yet, they made a conscious decision to intentionally rejoice and be joyful. They chose to rejoice, they chose to be joyful and be glad because they knew and understood whence their strength came from. They knew and understood that their situation isn’t permanent, and that God who strengthens them will elevate them soon.

That is the mindset you ought to have when you find yourself in situations where it seems as though you have lost it all. Purposefully choose to rejoice and think positive. Your circumstances isn’t peculiar to you, and neither is it foreign to God. He sure wouldn’t give you more than you can bear, and He is readily available to carry those burden which you can no longer bear. Therefore, rejoice and be glad in Him for your creator is not man that He should forsake and leave you. He will never leave you hanging.
